The Get Grounded Foundation
Is a community based service organization founded on the principle that teens need to “ground” themselves, so that they may in turn “ground” others.
Ground-ed (adj.): sensible and down to earth; having one’s feet on the ground
The Get Grounded Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization initially focused on two main activities:
One, opening a center for teens to have a safe place to socialize, study, explore, be inspired, contribute to their community, and learn about themselves. Through the work of the Foundations Board, the support of Emory University and DeKalb County Commissioner Jeff Rader, and the
generous support from donors and volunteers, the Get Grounded Enrichment Studio for Teens opened it’s doors in April 2012. The Teen Studio will offer numerous positive opportunities for teens to be engaged in programs and activities that can help them figure out who they are and what is truly important to them. In essence, it is a place that is theirs to explore what helps them “get grounded” in life.
Second, focusing on community outreach, specifically once “grounded” the goal is to help “ground” others. The initial program, called Grounded for Good strives to bring yoga to teens in under-served communities, community outreach centers, and schools. Utilizing the Grounded methodology of where teens not only learn to do yoga..they learn how to teach as well, we envision our Get Grounded teens playing an instrumental role as they reach out to serve.
